Questions to Ask Your Web Designer

Thinking about hiring a web designer for your website? Every website owner needs to know the basics about web development before they spend their money on building one. A website that works is not just an attractive place on the net. It has to be developed and it is sensible to develop it from the start.

I must say that website designers are usually very talented. They know how to design websites that are extremely eye-catching, but a nice-looking website doesn't always work if the details of developing it aren't considered.

Most website designers that develop websites actually call themselves web developers; however, developers might be presented as website designers because it is a popular phrase. In any case, you can ask the following questions to make sure the prospect has the skill and knowledge to carry out your project satisfactorily.

  1. What services in are included in the web design package?
  2. What is your experience in web development?
  3. Do you do keyword research? If so, how do you do it?
  4. Will you insert meta tags that contain selected keywords on each webpage?
  5. Do you work with a web writer to develop the content?
  6. Will the website include an ecommerce feature?
  7. Will the website include forms?

  8. Will the website and all of its functions be operational when you are finished?

If these questions are not answered intelligently, chances are that you are dealing with a website designer instead of a web developer. You can follow-up with web development and hire your own web writer , but if you are expecting the whole enchilada, you probably need to shop around or take the matter into your own hands.

I fell for this when I first started out on the internet. I traded work for a website design. I loved it, but it was basically just pictures. I didn't know what to do with it. It was nowhere near ready to launch the website and the price was too high for what I got. My recommendation…
